As part of its continued growth and commitment to operational excellence, Multotec Botswana is seeking to recruit a qualified, experienced, and motivated individual for the position of Driver. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth coordination of transportation needs within the organization and supporting day-to-day operational efficiency.
Position: Driver
Job Purpose
Reporting directly to the Procurement Officer, the Driver will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s logistical and operational requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of personnel, goods, and official documents.
The role requires strict adherence to road safety regulations, company policies, and best driving practices. In addition, the Driver will be expected to ensure that the assigned vehicle is maintained in excellent working condition at all times. This includes conducting routine checks, reporting faults, and coordinating servicing where necessary.
The Driver must demonstrate professionalism, responsibility, and a strong commitment to safety while contributing to the overall productivity and efficiency of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
The Driver will be expected to carry out a range of duties, including but not limited to the following:
Safely transport employees, visitors, and clients to designated locations as required by the organization.
Deliver and collect goods, equipment, and documents in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensure that all trips are planned properly to optimize time and fuel usage while meeting deadlines.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after trips, checking for mechanical issues, fuel levels, tire condition, and overall safety.
Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of the assigned vehicle at all times.
Report any mechanical faults, accidents, or incidents promptly to the relevant supervisor.
Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
Assist with loading and unloading goods when necessary, ensuring proper handling and safety procedures are followed.
Provide support to the procurement and logistics team when required.
Adhere to company security protocols, especially when transporting sensitive materials or documents.
Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy when interacting with staff, clients, and external stakeholders.
Be flexible and available to work outside normal working hours when operational needs arise.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
A valid and clean driver’s licence (Class EC or relevant classification suitable for heavy-duty vehicles).
A valid Professional Driving Permit (PRDP).
A minimum of five (5) years proven experience driving heavy-duty trucks.
Good knowledge of local and regional routes within Botswana and surrounding areas.
Strong understanding of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
A high level of responsibility and professionalism.
Physical fitness and ability to handle the demands of the role.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
Working Environment
The Driver will operate primarily within a mining and industrial environment, which may include travel to remote locations. The role may involve long-distance driving and extended hours depending on operational needs.
The candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic and sometimes demanding environment where safety, efficiency, and reliability are critical. Adherence to safety standards and company procedures is non-negotiable.
