Spray Painter
Role Summary
Spray Painters spray paint the bodywork of vehicles from buses to large trucks. They need to ensure that the work is carried out according to applicable instructions and in a rational and economic way for both the customer and the company.
Job Responsibilities
- Spray paint body and/or chassis after panel beating and/or preparation has been performed:
- Making assessments of damaged vehicles, deciding how best to repair it and estimating the time and cost for the repair,
- Must be able to perform basic panel beating and body/chassis preparation,
- Should be able to perform advanced spray painting,
- Stamp on Work Order (Job card) and Complete Work Order after completion of task.
- Carry out the fitment of vehicle accessories
- When requested carry out other reasonable duties and responsibilities not specifically mentioned in the job description during the course and scope of employment
Applicant must meet these minimum requirements
- Matric certificate or equivalent
- Further diploma/certification in spray painting
- In-depth knowledge of paint mixing and spraying techniques.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks carefully and accurately
- General warehousing skills & knowledge
- Process and procedure driven.
- Knowledge of the automotive panel beating industry
- Communication skills
- Effective time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Able to work on own initiative and under pressure
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
- General computer skills
- Code EC licence would be beneficial
