SALARY
The salary for this position ranges from R163 680 to R192 810 per annum. The appointed candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement, which will outline expectations, deliverables, and performance standards aligned with the objectives of the department.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this position:

A Grade 12 qualification is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of physical security procedures and processes, including access control, surveillance, and incident response. Knowledge of the Safety and Security Legislative Framework is required, particularly within a government context where compliance and adherence to regulations are critical.

Applicants must possess a valid PSIRA Grade C certification, confirming their professional competence and eligibility to perform security-related duties in South Africa. This certification must be current and verifiable.

In addition to formal qualifications, candidates must exhibit a range of key skills and competencies. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for interacting with staff, visitors, and members of the public in a professional manner. The ability to clearly report incidents and maintain accurate records is also important.

Problem-solving skills are necessary to respond effectively to security challenges and emergencies. Candidates should be capable of assessing situations quickly and making informed decisions that prioritize safety and security.

DUTIES
The Security Officer will be responsible for a range of duties aimed at maintaining a safe and secure environment within the Magistrate Office. These duties are structured around key performance areas that align with the overall objectives of the department.

One of the primary responsibilities is to provide access control. This involves monitoring and regulating the entry and exit of all individuals entering the premises. The Security Officer must ensure that only authorized personnel and visitors are allowed access, and that proper identification and documentation procedures are followed at all times.

The role also involves improving safety within the building or premises. This includes conducting regular patrols, identifying potential risks or hazards, and taking proactive measures to prevent incidents. The Security Officer must remain vigilant and alert to any unusual activities or behaviors that may pose a threat.

Another key duty is to prohibit unauthorized items from entering or leaving the building or premises. This requires thorough inspection procedures and the use of appropriate security equipment. The officer must ensure compliance with regulations regarding prohibited items and take appropriate action when violations occur.

Monitoring CCTV cameras is a critical component of the role. The Security Officer must continuously observe surveillance systems to detect any suspicious activities or incidents. Prompt reporting and response to any irregularities are essential to maintaining security.

The officer will also be responsible for enrolling staff on the biometric system. This involves capturing and updating employee data to ensure accurate access control records. The officer must ensure that all biometric information is handled securely and in accordance with privacy regulations.

Providing access to staff over weekends is another important responsibility. The Security Officer must manage and monitor weekend access, ensuring that only authorized personnel are allowed entry and that all activities are recorded appropriately.

In addition to these duties, the Security Officer may be required to respond to emergencies, assist in evacuation procedures, and support other safety initiatives within the organization.
