Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Heavy Duty Driver is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of goods while maintaining high standards of vehicle care and operational compliance. The Driver will work closely with the Truck Assistant and depot team to coordinate deliveries and respond to changing operational requirements.
This role involves planning and following efficient delivery routes, ensuring that all goods are securely loaded and transported without damage. The Driver must ensure that all deliveries meet the required timelines and that any delays or issues are communicated promptly to the relevant stakeholders.
In addition to driving duties, the Driver may be required to assist with basic warehouse operations, including loading and unloading goods, verifying stock, and ensuring that all items are handled with care.

The purpose of this role is to provide safe, efficient, and professional transportation services for BWISE products. The Heavy Duty Driver is responsible for ensuring that all deliveries are completed in accordance with company standards, customer expectations, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities
The Heavy Duty Driver is responsible for executing safe and timely deliveries of flooring products. This includes ensuring that all goods are properly loaded, secured, and transported according to company guidelines and safety standards. The Driver must follow planned routes while remaining flexible to accommodate changes when necessary.
Accurate documentation is a critical part of the role. The Driver must complete and maintain all delivery-related paperwork, including proof of delivery (PODs), delivery notes, and customer sign-offs. Ensuring that documentation is accurate and complete helps maintain accountability and supports efficient operations.
Daily vehicle inspections are required to ensure that the truck is in good working condition. The Driver must check key components such as brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels before each trip. Compliance with safety standards and regulations is mandatory. The Driver must adhere to company policies as well as the National Road Traffic Act, ensuring safe driving practices at all times. Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) as a basic educational requirement.
A valid Code C Driver’s License with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is essential for this role. Applicants without these qualifications will not be considered.
A minimum of two years’ experience as a Heavy Duty Driver is required, preferably within the logistics or flooring distribution industry. Experience in transporting similar products will be advantageous.
Knowledge of South African road infrastructure, particularly within the assigned region, is important for efficient route planning and timely deliveries.
A valid Hyster or Forklift License is required, as the role may involve operating equipment for loading and unloading goods.
Candidates should have a basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and be capable of conducting routine inspections and reporting any issues.
Familiarity with delivery documentation and route management tools, such as GPS systems and delivery manifests, is necessary for effective performance in this role.
