Anova Health Institute NPC, an NGO dedicated to empowering individuals and enhancing lives through healthcare solutions, is seeking a dedicated Counsellor Driver to join our team in Cape Town, Western Cape.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in our community outreach programs by driving our mobile clinic and trailer to various sites across the City of Cape Town and surrounding districts.

In addition to transportation responsibilities, the Counsellor Driver will assist with HIV Testing Services (HTS) activities, including mobilizing, counselling, and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Driving Responsibilities:
    • Operate the mobile clinic and trailer, transporting them to various designated sites.
    • Provide transportation for staff and clients to different destinations.
    • Maintain accurate records of kilometres travelled, managing and recording them in the logbook.
    • Ensure the safe operation of the mobile clinic, adhering to all regulatory requirements.
    • Report any vehicle accidents or damages promptly to the immediate supervisor.
  2. Operational Responsibilities:
    • Plan and schedule vehicle trips on a day-to-day basis.
    • Assist in the management and maintenance of all equipment and supplies within the mobile clinic.
    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily to ensure vehicle safety.
    • Ensure the vehicle is always parked securely at Anova premises when not in use.
    • Stay updated on relevant policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 qualification.
  • Valid Code 10 driver’s license with a trailer and PDP.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience driving mobile clinics or Code 10 vehicles, including towing and backing up trailers.
  • Successful completion of an interview and driver’s assessment with a trailer.
  • At least 2 years of experience working as an HTS Counsellor.
  • Training in Basic HAST, HIV Counselling, and Adherence Counselling.

  • Knowledge of Department of Health (DoH) HTS guidelines and protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with the City of Cape Town and surrounding districts.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to various communities as required.
