The primary purpose of this position is to efficiently and promptly collect and deliver reports, specimens, and parcels to and from various locations such as wards, hospitals, doctors’ rooms, factories, and other relevant clients using a designated vehicle.

Requirements:

Grade 10 or equivalent qualification
Valid South African Driver’s License (Code A)
Valid South African Driver’s License (Code EB)

Required Experience:

Prior driving experience
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
Familiarity with national traffic rules and regulations

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collect and Deliver Items: Operate the assigned vehicle to collect and deliver reports, specimens, and parcels to designated locations efficiently and on time.
Client Relations: Interact professionally with clients during pickups and deliveries, ensuring courteous and helpful service to maintain positive relationships and promote Ampath’s image.
Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance checks on the company vehicle before and after each trip, including checking fuel levels, tire pressure, and fluid levels, to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Adherence to Traffic Regulations: Strictly adhere to national traffic rules and regulations while driving, ensuring compliance with speed limits, traffic signs, and other road safety requirements.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including time of collection, destination, and any relevant information, to track and monitor the transportation of items effectively.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the proper care and maintenance of all equipment associated with the vehicle, such as GPS devices or communication tools, to facilitate smooth operations.
Problem Resolution: Address any issues or concerns that arise during deliveries promptly and effectively, seeking assistance from supervisors or relevant authorities when necessary.

Safe Driving Skills: Proficient in operating a motor vehicle safely, with a keen awareness of road conditions and traffic hazards to ensure the safety of oneself and others.
Time Management: Ability to plan routes effectively, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, colleagues, and supervisors professionally and accurately.
Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in recording delivery information and following instructions for pickups and drop-offs.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Capacity to identify and resolve issues or challenges that may arise during transportation, utilizing quick thinking and resourcefulness to find solutions.
Customer Service: Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to provide courteous and helpful assistance to clients and address their needs effectively.
Basic Vehicle Maintenance: Understanding of basic vehicle maintenance principles, including checking fluid levels, tire condition, and other essential components, to ensure the vehicle’s proper functioning and longevity.
