VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 6 OF 2026

Letlhakeng District Council invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced employees currently serving within the Council for the position outlined below. This opportunity is strictly open to internal candidates who meet the specified requirements and are committed to upholding the Council’s standards of service delivery and professionalism.


Position: Cleaner II

Duty Station:

Letlhakeng District Council (Letlhakeng)


Salary Scale:

A2 (P36,444 – P42,024) per annum


Leave Entitlement:

20 working days per annum


Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) certificate or its equivalent.


Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience at A3 salary scale or equivalent is required. Candidates must demonstrate practical knowledge and proven competence in performing cleaning duties in an institutional or organizational environment.


Benefits:

Successful candidates will be entitled to the following benefits in accordance with Council and Government policies:

Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme:
The Government contributes 80% of the premium while the employee contributes 20%.

Contributory Pension Fund Scheme:
The Government contributes 15% of the employee’s basic salary, and the employee contributes 5%.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The primary purpose of the Cleaner II position is to provide efficient, reliable, and high-quality cleaning services within Council schools. The role ensures that learning and administrative environments are kept clean, hygienic, and conducive for both students and staff. The Cleaner II is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and orderliness while adhering to health and safety regulations.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of cleaning and support duties, including but not limited to the following:

  1. General Cleaning Duties:

Clean administration offices, including desks, chairs, cabinets, and equipment, ensuring all surfaces are dust-free and properly maintained.

Sweep, mop, and polish floors in classrooms, corridors, and offices to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Clean pupils’ classrooms thoroughly, ensuring desks, chairs, and floors are properly sanitized.

Maintain cleanliness of toilets and ablution facilities by washing, disinfecting, and restocking supplies as required.

Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces regularly to maintain hygiene standards.

Ensure that all cleaning tasks are performed daily in accordance with prescribed standards and schedules.

  1. Laundry Duties:

Wash and iron any linen used within the school premises, such as curtains, tablecloths, or other designated materials.

Ensure proper handling and care of all linen to maintain cleanliness and extend usability.

  1. Management of Cleaning Materials:

Collect and maintain custody of all cleaning materials and equipment issued.

Monitor stock levels and report any shortages or inadequacies to the supervisor promptly.

Ensure safe and proper storage of cleaning chemicals and tools to prevent damage or misuse.

Use cleaning materials responsibly and in accordance with safety guidelines.

  1. Meeting and Event Support:

Prepare and organize venues for meetings and official functions, ensuring cleanliness and proper arrangement of furniture.

Assist with setting up chairs, tables, and any required materials before meetings.

Prepare and serve tea and refreshments during meetings or as required.

Clean and restore meeting venues after use.

  1. Security and Safety Responsibilities:

Ensure all windows and doors are properly secured before leaving the premises.

Switch off all electrical appliances, lights, and utilities after working hours to prevent hazards and conserve energy.

Report any security concerns, damages, or irregularities observed during cleaning duties to the supervisor.

  1. Additional Duties:

Undertake any other related duties as assigned by management from time to time.

Support other staff members in maintaining a safe and clean working environment when required.
