Salary Scale

The annual salary for this position ranges from R235 476,00 to R327 048,00. The salary offered will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience, and internal remuneration policies.


Estimated Total Remuneration Package

The total estimated remuneration package for this position ranges from R331 651,00 to R448 205,00 per annum. This package includes basic salary and additional benefits as per municipal guidelines and policies.


Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to provide an effective, efficient, and cost-conscious distribution and transportation service to the Licensing Operational Support and Compliance Management section. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and secure movement of documents, goods, and other materials between various municipal offices, regional facilities, and external stakeholders.

The Driver will contribute to the smooth functioning of departmental operations by ensuring that all deliveries and collections are conducted professionally, reliably, and in accordance with established procedures. This role requires a high level of responsibility, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.


Appointment Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for appointment:

  • A Grade 10 qualification or equivalent
  • Proven relevant experience in performing driver-related duties, preferably within a corporate, municipal, or government environment
  • Physical fitness and good overall health to perform the duties associated with the position
  • A valid Code B driving licence with a satisfactory driving record
  • Willingness to undergo a criminal record check as part of the selection process
  • Willingness to allow fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at the applicant’s own cost

Primary Functions and Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to transportation and distribution services. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

Transportation of Goods and Documents
The Driver will be responsible for transporting goods, documents, and other materials safely and securely between various locations. This includes ensuring that all items are handled with care and delivered in a timely manner.

Distribution Services
The role involves providing both internal and external distribution services. This includes transporting items between municipal offices, regional branches, and external organisations. The Driver must ensure that all deliveries and collections are completed according to schedule and in compliance with departmental procedures.

Delivery and Collection of Correspondence
The Driver will be required to deliver and collect internal and external correspondence. This includes ensuring that all documents are accurately recorded, properly handled, and delivered to the correct recipients.

Vehicle Maintenance and Care
The Driver will be responsible for ensuring that the assigned vehicle is maintained in good working condition. This includes conducting routine inspections, reporting any faults or issues promptly, and ensuring compliance with all corporate and departmental vehicle management policies.

Compliance with Policies and Procedures
The Driver must adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations governing the use of municipal vehicles and the handling of goods and documents. This includes compliance with safety standards, traffic regulations, and internal guidelines.

Record Keeping and Reporting
The role may require maintaining accurate records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle usage. The Driver must ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and submitted as required.
