Role Overview
The Head Housekeeper will oversee all housekeeping operations within the lodge, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and all facilities are maintained to impeccable standards. This position requires both leadership and hands-on involvement in daily housekeeping activities.
The role also involves coordinating with other departments, managing supplies, and ensuring that all services are delivered efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleanliness and Presentation
Maintain exceptional cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and all lodge facilities at all times. Ensure that all spaces are tidy, hygienic, and visually appealing to enhance the guest experience.
2. Linen and Amenities Management
Ensure that linen, towels, and guest amenities are consistently well-stocked, clean, and neatly arranged. Monitor inventory levels and arrange timely replenishment to avoid shortages.
3. Laundry Oversight
Oversee and perform laundry duties, including washing, ironing, and proper storage of all items. Ensure that all fabrics are handled with care to maintain quality and longevity.
4. Maintenance Reporting
Identify and report maintenance issues or repair needs promptly to the relevant department. Conduct regular inspections to ensure that all facilities remain in proper working condition.
5. Environmental Practices
Implement and follow environmentally friendly cleaning practices in line with the lodge’s sustainability goals. Use resources responsibly and support eco-conscious initiatives within the property.
6. Guest Experience Support
Assist with special lodge arrangements, including bush dining setups and other unique guest experiences. Pay close attention to detail to ensure these arrangements meet high standards.
7. Guest Service Excellence
Deliver outstanding guest service at all times. Ensure guest comfort, satisfaction, and attention to detail in every aspect of housekeeping. Respond promptly and professionally to guest needs.
Leadership and Teamwork
Provide guidance, training, and support to housekeeping staff. Lead by example and ensure that all team members adhere to established standards and procedures.
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations and a seamless guest experience. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.
Requirements
Experience
Proven experience in housekeeping within a lodge, hotel, or hospitality environment is required. Experience in a camp-based or remote setting will be an added advantage.
Attention to Detail
Demonstrate strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain consistently high cleanliness and presentation standards.
Organisational Skills
Possess excellent organisational and time management skills. Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workloads efficiently.
