Job Purpose

As a Truck Assistant/Glass Cutter, your main responsibility is to assist the driver in loading and unloading glass products. You will ensure that all glass is maneuvered safely and securely during deliveries, adhering to the company’s safety and quality standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the driver in loading and offloading glass from the truck.
  • Ensure that trucks are loaded and offloaded onto a level surface or as close as possible.
  • Secure loads according to the loading and offloading procedure.
  • Double-check during trips to ensure glass is properly tied and safely loaded.
  • Perform a quality check while loading, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Assist the driver when reversing or maneuvering the truck in confined or unseen areas.
  • Assist in controlling paperwork and following work instructions, standard operating procedures, and business rules.
  • Report any damage to property and ensure loads are restrained before leaving customer premises.
  • Adhere to environmental, safety, and housekeeping standards.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Carry out any other tasks requested by the factory supervisor.

Educational Background

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Code 10 or higher valid Driver’s License with PrDP will be an advantage.

Experience Required

  • Experience in handling and moving dangerous goods.
  • Experience in handling various types of glass products.
  • Experience in glass handling and quality control.
  • Knowledge and understanding of reading drawings and production orders.

Skills Required

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Analytical and Numerical Skills: Ability to read and understand technical documents.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective in handling and interacting with customers and colleagues.
