NB: Please note this is a fixed term contract position for 06 months

Purpose of Role

To operate the RDT 100-150 Tonnes in line with Tharisa Minerals (TM) standards and the requirements of the RDT 100-150 Tonnes Operator across the mining operations of the organisation to ensure all ore and waste is transported to the appropriate processing section of the mine

Role Context

Health and Safety

Conduct risk and safety inspections, identifying and reporting any risks within the allocated area of operations and completing the requisite checklist recording the associated risks
Conduct a prestart safety checklist by inspecting the RDT 100-150 Tonnes, identifying any risks and concerns, and escalating them to the control room and Foreman ensuring all safety requirements are met before the RDT 100-150 tonnes is put into operation for the day
Conduct continuous risk assessments throughout the day by proactively identifying and reporting identified risks within the areas of operation and collaborating with the various departments to support and maintain a safe working environment
Maintain and manage one’s own health and safety across the area of operations by adhering to all health and safety protocols and procedures to minimise any incidents within the working environment
Equipment Operations

Conduct a prestart safety checklist by inspecting the RDT 100-150 Tonnes, identifying any risks and concerns, and escalating them to the control room and Foreman ensuring all safety requirements are met before the RDT 100-150 Tonnes is put into operation for the day
Execute transporting tasks in line with the planning requirements of the mine ensuring that all ore and waste is transported without cross contamination to the various divisions of the mine as per operational requirements
Conduct routine inspections and ensure preventative maintenance is performed on the operator
Collaborate with the various supervisors, foreman and other departments to ensure that all ore and waste is transported in line with their operational requirements, fostering a safe working environment
Manage the loading of the RDT 100-150 Tonnes by understanding the loading capacity of the RDT ensuring the weight on the machine is appropriately balanced and the integrity of the machine is not compromised during operations
Conduct daily housekeeping across the RDT 100-150 Tonnes that this role has worked with by cleaning the cabin, conducting an end of shift inspection on the RDT, and ensuring any required maintenance or cleaning is scheduled accordingly to keep the RDT in peak operational condition
Provide reports through to the control room based on the various materials that have been transported to the crusher as well as the dump, providing insight into the various materials and types of ore and their associated quantities that have been transported
Utilise the appropriate tipping methods based on the location the tipping needs to take place by assessing the area and any potential risks to guarantee smooth operations when tipping
Manage the operation of the RDT 100-150 Tonnes by monitoring and controlling the area of operation in and around the operator ensuring a safe working environment is maintained, reporting any deviations from TM’s health and safety standards
Complete all movement logs for the RDT 100-150 Tonnes by recording all movements and loads managed throughout the respective shift to ensure accurate records are kept of all movements
Daily Planning

Work in line with the established timelines and pressures by adhering to the daily and weekly operational plans as well as prioritising adhoc daily requests for movements of loads outside of the allocated ‘block/s’
Work according to the daily and weekly plan by engaging with the supervisor to understand the intended targets and notifying them of any potential delays (due to breakdowns or any other causes) to enable continuous monitoring of target achievements
Requirements
Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

Grade 12 (NQF4)
Code 10 Drivers Licence
Relevant license of operation for the Grader Operator
Any other relevant certifications
Must pass both medical and dover test
Must be able to work shifts and also on all holidays
Job specific experience:

Minimum of 0-1 year of experience having worked in a similar type of role, in the mining or heavy industry environment, using the same or similar type of equipment
