Job Summary

The Shop Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the shop by providing excellent customer service, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and ensuring that products are handled and displayed appropriately. The role requires a dependable and proactive individual who can work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be expected to carry out a variety of duties that contribute to the overall success of the shop. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assisting customers with purchases and inquiries in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner. This includes answering questions about products, providing recommendations, and ensuring a positive customer experience at all times.

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the shop environment. This involves regular cleaning of workspaces, display areas, and equipment, as well as ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Stocking shelves and monitoring inventory levels to ensure that products are always available and properly displayed. This includes checking expiry dates, rotating stock, and reporting shortages or discrepancies to the supervisor.

Ensuring the proper handling and packaging of poultry products in accordance with company standards and hygiene requirements. This is essential in maintaining product quality and customer safety.

Supporting daily shop operations as directed by the supervisor. This may include assisting with opening and closing procedures, handling deliveries, organizing storage areas, and performing other tasks as needed.

Working collaboratively with team members to achieve operational goals and maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

A BGCSE certificate or equivalent qualification is required. This demonstrates a basic level of education necessary to perform the duties associated with the role.

Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with relevant experience will have an added advantage, as they will already be familiar with customer interaction and retail operations.
