Overview

The Department of Defence is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Household Aid at Air Force Base Langebaanweg. A total of four positions are available for individuals who are committed to maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and order within a professional and disciplined environment.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide general cleaning and housekeeping services in offices, student accommodation areas, and other facilities as directed by the supervisor. By ensuring that all assigned areas are clean and presentable, the successful candidates will contribute to a healthy and productive environment within the base.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

A minimum of an ABET qualification or equivalent
No prior work experience is required

Key Responsibilities

The Household Aid will be responsible for carrying out a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties, including but not limited to the following:

Performing cleaning duties in offices and other facilities as instructed by the supervisor
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors to maintain a high standard of cleanliness
Dusting surfaces and polishing furniture to ensure a neat and professional appearance
Cleaning windows and glass surfaces to maintain visibility and cleanliness
Maintaining cleanliness in student bungalows and accommodation areas
Cleaning ablution facilities, including toilets, basins, and showers, ensuring proper hygiene at all times
Emptying waste bins and disposing of refuse in accordance with established procedures
Ensuring that all cleaning equipment and materials are used safely and stored properly after use
Reporting any defects, damages, or maintenance issues in the workplace to the immediate supervisor
Assisting with general housekeeping duties to ensure that all areas remain clean and orderly
Adhering to health and safety regulations while performing all tasks

Working Environment

The position is based at Air Force Base Langebaanweg and operates within a military environment that requires discipline, punctuality, and adherence to established procedures. The role involves physical work and may require standing, bending, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the day.
