Job Description:
Agric Northern Region is seeking 4 Assistant Farmers for sites in Commissiesdrift and Magaliesburg to support in managing Broiler operations. The role involves overseeing resources and manpower to ensure optimal bird production at minimal costs.

Required Qualifications:
- Matric/ Grade 12/ NQF level 4 or 5 certificate or relevant
- Tertiary qualification (advantageous)
- Physically fit with no allergies to bird feathers and dust
Required Experience:
- 3 years’ experience in the Poultry environment
- 1 year experience/exposure in a supervisory capacity

Key Responsibilities:
- House Preparation: Create ideal conditions for bird production before placement.
- Chick Placement: Coordinate and monitor chick placement, evaluate chick quality, and adjust brooding conditions.
- Growing Conditions: Monitor daily bird performance including feed intake, water consumption, temperature, humidity, and mortality.
- Ventilation Management: Adjust ventilation to meet bird requirements.
- Water Management: Monitor water quality, sanitation, and pressure settings.
- Feed Management: Receive and record feed deliveries, manage feed stock, and monitor feed quality.
- Outsource Activities: Coordinate house preparation for bird catching and ensure accurate documentation.
- Biosecurity and Farm Sanitation: Maintain biosecurity practices and hygiene standards to prevent disease.
- Bird Health: Monitor bird health daily and conduct post-mortems as required.
- Staff Management: Maintain staff records, conduct training, and manage disciplinary issues.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation including health and safety records, feed records, and mortality records.
