The Transport Department seeks Code 14 Drivers responsible for operating a variety of code 14 vehicles. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the vehicle and load’s safety.
  • Conducting daily vehicle inspections and reporting any faults.
  • Loading and off-loading various materials and equipment.
  • Adhering to the Road Traffic Act and ensuring the safety of other road users.
  • Following regulations outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies, and road regulations.
  • Navigating the Gauteng area efficiently.

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
  • Valid, unendorsed Code 14 license with a valid PDP.
  • 3 years of driving experience.
  • Hands-on and practical approach to the job.
  • Experience driving vehicles with manual gearboxes.

Responsibilities :

Ensuring Vehicle and Load Safety:

    • Prioritize the safety of the vehicle and its cargo throughout the transportation process.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle before and after each trip to ensure it is in optimal working condition and report any faults or issues promptly.

    Loading and Off-loading Various Materials and Equipment:

      • Safely load and off-load diverse materials and equipment onto and from the vehicle, ensuring proper securing and handling techniques are employed to prevent damage or accidents.

      Adherence to Traffic and Safety Regulations:

        • Strictly adhere to the Road Traffic Act and all relevant traffic laws and regulations to ensure compliance and safety on the road.
        • Maintain awareness of road conditions and hazards, taking appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians.
