Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana to fill the following vacancies within the Ministry of Lands and Agriculture, tenable at Kgatleng Land Board.

POSITION: DRIVER II (3 POSITIONS)
Salary Scale
B4 Salary Scale ranging from BWP 57,348.00 to BWP 65,424.00 per annum
Leave Entitlement
Successful candidates will be entitled to 20 working days leave per annum, in accordance with public service regulations.

(Employer contributes 80% while the employee contributes 20%)

Housing and Upkeep Allowance
A monthly allowance of P 798.80
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess the following:
Junior Certificate (JC) or equivalent qualification
A valid Driver’s License Class B and C
A valid Public Driver’s Permit (PRDP) for Goods and Special categories
Experience Required
A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience serving as a Driver III or in a similar capacity within a reputable organization
Main Purpose of the Job
The primary purpose of this role is to provide reliable and safe transportation services while ensuring that assigned Land Board vehicles are properly maintained and regularly checked.
The Driver II will be responsible for executing driving duties efficiently while supporting operational activities of the Land Board.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:
Undertake similar responsibilities as those performed by a Driver III, ensuring continuity and consistency in service delivery
Operate heavy-duty vehicles exceeding 3500kg maximum weight (for non-articulated vehicles) up to 16000kg maximum weight, including towing trailers where required
Drive all non-articulated buses exceeding 3500kg in weight, ensuring safety of passengers and compliance with road regulations
Conduct routine inspections and checks on assigned vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy at all times
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, both interior and exterior, and ensure proper upkeep of assigned vehicles
Monitor fuel usage and report any irregularities or inefficiencies
Supervise one or more labourers when assigned, ensuring effective coordination and task execution
Act as driver-in-charge when more than one vehicle, but fewer than five vehicles, are assigned to a specific duty
Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational policies
Report any mechanical faults, damages, or required maintenance promptly to the relevant authorities
Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel consumption, and vehicle usage logs
Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by management from time to time
Required Competencies and Skills
Strong driving skills with the ability to handle heavy-duty vehicles safely
Good knowledge of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures
High level of responsibility and reliability
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate staff
