Job Purpose
The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of extra heavy-duty vehicles used in water and waste management services. The role involves transporting waste, recyclable materials, and water to designated disposal or storage facilities while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.


Key Responsibilities
The Extra Heavy-Duty Driver will perform a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, the following:


Operate a variety of extra heavy-duty water and waste management vehicles safely and efficiently.


Collect and transport waste, recyclable materials, and water to designated disposal or storage sites.


Ensure that assigned vehicles are properly fuelled, lubricated, and serviced before use.
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring roadworthiness and reporting any defects immediately.


Operate loading, compressing, and dumping mechanisms safely and effectively.
Maintain cleanliness of vehicles by washing both interior and exterior regularly.
Report mechanical faults or required repairs promptly to supervisors or maintenance teams.


Complete daily work sheets, logs, and reports accurately for all equipment operated.
Execute assigned work orders efficiently while maintaining proper documentation.


Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations during operations.
Maintain safe working practices when handling waste materials and operating heavy machinery.


Keep assigned work areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and members of the public.
Follow both written and verbal instructions accurately and professionally.


Promote and maintain a positive image of the company through professional conduct.


Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Senior Secondary School Certificate (BGCSE or IGCSE or equivalent).
A minimum of five (5) years proven experience operating extra heavy-duty vehicles within a reputable organization.
Valid Class EC Driver’s License.
Valid PRDP (Professional Driving Permit) for Goods and Hazardous materials.
Demonstrated experience in operating waste management or similar heavy-duty equipment.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should possess:
Exceptional driving skills with a strong safety record.
Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report vehicle faults.
Sound understanding of waste management operations (an added advantage).
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
High level of integrity, discipline, and professionalism.
