AFGRI is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an apprenticeship training program at our various branches across South Africa. We are seeking dynamic, self-motivated individuals with the technical aptitude to qualify as an Artisan.
If you have the drive and determination to succeed, we invite you to apply for our apprenticeship program. This opportunity allows the incumbent to grow within AFGRI under the mentorship of our experienced leaders, gaining invaluable informal training and on-the-job development through rotations in multidisciplinary teams.
Program Duration:
This apprenticeship is a 3-year in-service training program aimed at earning a qualification as a Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanic. The initial 6 months of this program are considered a probationary period.
During this time, both the company and the apprentice have the opportunity to assess the long-term potential of the relationship. Either party may withdraw during this period without any consequences. After the probationary period, the apprentice will be bound by an AFGRI contract and will commence formal training.
Training Details:
- Practical Training: Apprentices will attend a Practical Training Institute to complete various phases of training as needed.
- Academic Training: Apprentices may be enrolled in N subjects at a college, engaging in distance learning as required. This may include Saturday classes.
- Product Training: Apprentices will undergo specialized training at the John Deere Training Facility in Boksburg and other supplier locations, as well as internal training hosted by AFGRI’s specialists.
Cost:
There are no training costs for the apprentice, provided all training is passed. If an apprentice fails any training, they must retake it at their own expense and on their own time.
All apprentices are required to sign a 3-year contract with AFGRI. If the apprentice decides to withdraw during the apprenticeship period or the “work-back period,” there will be associated costs. These costs will be calculated based on the timing and phase of withdrawal.
Apprentices are expected to work back the time taken to qualify. The contract cannot be extended beyond 4 years; if the apprentice does not qualify within this time frame, the contract will expire.
