Position Overview
As a Cleaner at Dis-Chem Pharmacies store, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and neat environment throughout the store, adhering to Dis-Chem’s hygienic standards. Your duties will encompass all areas, including the store floor, stock room, dispensary, admin office, and canteen.

Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months’ cleaning experience
- Language Skills:
- Sound command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Additional language that is area-specific
- Work Hours: Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- Bilingual proficiency
- Previous retail store cleaning experience
Key Responsibilities
- Store Cleanliness:
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the store, shop floor, and communal areas before the store opens.
- Develop routines to ensure all areas of the store are kept clean to a high standard.
- Restroom and Canteen Maintenance:
- Ensure the canteen and restrooms are clean and stocked with necessary products at all times.
- Operational Support:
- Be available throughout operational hours to clean up as required.
- Use the correct cleaning products and equipment for specific tasks.
- Ensure the wet floor sign is visible at both ends when cleaning the floor.
- Customer Service:
- Be friendly, professional, and able to assist customers when needed.
- Compliance:
- Perform duties according to Health and Safety Regulations.
Competencies
Essential:
- Cleaning Experience: Prior cleaning experience in a professional setting.
- Communication Skills: Sound command of English (written and oral).
- Customer Service: Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Integrity: Trustworthy and honest.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining cleanliness.
- Appearance: Presentable and well-groomed.
- Instruction Following: Ability to take instructions and follow through.
- Time Management: Efficient in managing tasks and time.
Advantageous:
- Prior experience in retail store cleaning.
- Bilingual abilities for better customer interaction.
Special Conditions of Employment
- Work Hours: Willing and able to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical Fitness:
- Able and physically fit for walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and moving objects.
- Transport: Reliable transport and/or reside in close proximity to the store.
- Eligibility:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Clear credit and criminal records.
