Brief Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive in Compliance:
- Drive a bus or vehicle according to the National Road Traffic Act.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the vehicle’s condition is satisfactory.
- Trip Management:
- Complete trip logs, recording open and close kilometers per trip or route.
- Drive allocated vehicles safely, legally, and professionally.
- Follow the set timetable, avoiding running early or late, while maintaining safety.
- Road Safety Compliance:
- Observe road rules within bus depots, stations, public roads, and abnormal conditions.
- Report non-roadworthy vehicles and defects promptly to the Operations Controller.
- Report expiring vehicle licenses and Certificates of Fitness (COF) timely.
- Customer Service:
- Wear prescribed uniforms at all times while on duty.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with customers.
- Provide courteous and friendly service to all stakeholders.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Ensure the vehicle is clean and tidy before commencing a route or trip.
- Identify and report safety hazards and risks immediately to the operations manager.
- Safety Compliance:
- Carry out lawful and reasonable duties required by OHS and SHEQ.
- Understand emergency evacuation plans and procedures.
- Comprehend the University’s Health & Safety Policy and Emergency Fire Procedures.
- Attend safety and compliance meetings regularly.
Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years active passenger driving experience on buses.
- Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License Code EC1 (0.4) or EC.
- Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
