What Are We Looking For?
We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications, and/or skill sets:
- License: Code 10 license.
- PDP: Essential.
- Location: Living in Vanderbijlpark (non-negotiable).
- Experience:
- Prior experience in school bus driving is highly recommended.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position.
- Skills:
- Presentable with good communication skills.
- A clear criminal record is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Transportation
- Route Management: Drive a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) following time schedules.
- Student Pick-up and Drop-off: Pick up and discharge students at designated stops.
- Field Trips: Transport students and teachers on field trips to various locations, planning necessary route(s) and stops.
- Student Discipline: Maintain order and proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy.
General Worker Duties
- Facility Maintenance:
- Receive requests for maintenance of facilities.
- Check facilities daily to ensure everything is working and maintained.
- Complete any required maintenance, such as plumbing.
- Inform the facilities manager of any repairs needed.
- Perform general maintenance across the facility.
- Manage maintenance consumables and notify the facilities manager of requirements.
- Store and maintain tools for maintenance.
- Security and Access Control: Provide general support for security and access control across the facilities.
- Traffic Management: Assist with traffic management on school premises.
- Garden Maintenance:
- Review daily work roster for required duties.
- Maintain grass and flower beds.
- Clean and maintain the garden across the facility.
- Inform the facilities manager of gardening requirements.
- Manage gardening consumables and notify the facilities manager of requirements.
- Store and maintain tools for gardening.
Health and Safety
- Vehicle Inspection: Conduct daily safety and operational inspections of the assigned vehicle.
- Mechanical Repairs: Report any needed mechanical repairs.
- Vehicle Servicing:
- Service buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil.
- Check and fill tires and batteries when necessary.
- Safety Drills: Perform periodical safety drills as required by law, completing necessary reports upon request.
- Vehicle Cleanliness: Maintain vehicle cleanliness to ensure a safe operating condition.
- Safety Meetings: Attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required.
Record Keeping
- Mileage Reports: Complete periodic mileage and other reports, including passenger counts.
