Description
Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting. The following position has become available for a General Worker in our Maintenance Department, based in Kempton Park.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with general garden maintenance including watering, weeding, pruning, and planting across the company premises
- Maintain neat, clean, and well-presented outdoor areas, pathways, and entrances at all times
- Support the maintenance team with seasonal garden preparation and landscaping tasks
- Remove refuse and garden waste and ensure all areas are kept free of litter and debris
- Basic care and upkeep of lawn areas including mowing and edging
- Assist with potting, transplanting, and general plant care as directed
- Report damaged plants, irrigation faults, or maintenance concerns to the supervisor timeously
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Previous gardening or grounds maintenance experience preferred but not essential — willingness to learn is valued
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
- Gardening experience (preferential)
- Knowledge on gardening equipment (advantage)
- English Literate
