Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this role is to provide manual labour and technical support for the construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of agricultural infrastructure projects. The position requires physical fitness, commitment, reliability, and a willingness to work in various locations, including temporary camp environments for extended periods when required.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
Construction Support
- Provide manual labour during agricultural infrastructure construction projects.
- Prepare construction sites before work begins.
- Assist with clearing and preparing access roads.
- Support construction teams during infrastructure development.
- Handle and transport construction materials.
- Assist with basic welding-related activities under supervision.
- Prepare work areas according to project requirements.
- Rehabilitate construction sites after project completion.
Fence Construction
- Assist with planting fence posts.
- Place and secure fencing materials.
- Strain fence cladding correctly.
- Support installation of agricultural fencing.
- Handle fencing equipment safely.
- Maintain fencing tools and equipment.
Concrete and Structural Work
- Assist with concrete mixing and placement.
- Support construction of concrete structures.
- Carry construction materials.
- Prepare foundations where required.
- Assist skilled personnel during construction activities.
Grounds Maintenance
- Spray approved herbicides to control unwanted vegetation.
- Cut grass using lawn mowers and other equipment.
- Trim vegetation surrounding office buildings and camps.
- Maintain gardens and landscaped areas.
- Keep workspaces neat and free of overgrown vegetation.
- Remove debris from designated work areas.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Clean storage facilities and workshops.
- Maintain cleanliness of office premises.
- Clean gardens and surrounding areas.
- Assist in organising construction yards.
- Ensure buildings remain clean and presentable.
- Support maintenance of government facilities.
Equipment and Tool Maintenance
- Clean and maintain hand tools.

Camp and Facility Maintenance

Reporting and Logistical Support
- Assist supervisors with logistical duties.

- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- NQF Level 3 qualification (Grade 10 Certificate).
