REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (NQF L4)
  • Diploma/Advanced Certificate (Total post school study of 1 – 2 years) or equivalent with National Diploma at NQF level 6 in Library and Information Science Two (2) to three (3) years relevant experience.
  • The applicant must be a member of Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA).
  • Driving license is essential.
  • Special requirements (Skills needed): The applicant must have literacy, numeracy, and computer proficiency skills. Research, language proficiency, work performance, interpersonal abilities, initiative, critical thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of document management systems, particularly the Inmagic system (Library Administration System), is highly advised. able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Duties :

  • The chosen applicant must be able to carry out the following duties: purchase of books. subscriptions to newspapers and magazines.
  • Budget for the Defense Intelligence Library. collection management of books.
  • control over the indexing and classification of library resources.
  • offering the South African Defence Intelligence College and Defense Intelligence a professional inquiry service.
  • offering members of Defence Intelligence a loan service.
  • promotion of and marketing for library services

Duties :

  • Obtain approval before awarding any clasps, bars, decorations, long-service medals, or certificates from the PSAP.
  • Keep accurate records, register applications, award Unitas Medals, and public service act personnel with long service awards.
  • Updates to the mainframe PERSOL system and the Central Awards Register (CAR).
  • Send Units and Divisions a reminder about default apps.
  • Draft covering letters to be distributed to Units and Divisions and submit concept General order to Staff Officer 2, Honours & Awards, and Chief Personnel Clerk.
