• An appropriate Trade Test Certificate
• Experience in general workshop practices and mechanical maintenance (pumps, valves, sluices, engines, brush cutters, tractors, slashers, ride on lawn mowers, auxiliary drives, cranes, trucks, and water vessels) would serve as an added advantage.
• Knowledge of welding will be an added advantage.
• showing a legitimate, recently-expired driver’s license. excellent verbal, writing, and reading abilities, and no excessive fear of heights, water, or cramped quarters. The candidate has to have the ability to read and comprehend manufacturing drawings. understanding of and practical expertise in Occupational Health and Safety Act compliance.

Duties :

• The Mooirivier and Schoonspruit Water Schemes’ infrastructure must be safe and functional, therefore lead a team and operate autonomously. Brush cutters, tractors, slashers, ride-on lawnmowers, auxiliary drives, cranes, and vehicles are serviced and repaired. Identify potential suppliers, work with them to get quotes, and make sure the products meet the requirements and standards.
• Accept the position of person accountable for mechanical equipment under Section 2(7) of the OHS Act. Identify and evaluate the staff’s training needs, and aid in the facilitation of the training process. Ongoing supervision and evaluation of employee performance.

• Conduct standard-compliant general regular inspections. carry out recurring maintenance on the bulk water supply. Maintain official residences, office spaces, dam wall areas, and workshops.
• Ensure that pipelines, tunnels, and plants all receive routine maintenance. Install and maintain fences, maintain canal systems, and carry out landscaping work on business buildings, dams, and servitudes.
• Work on the roof structures, gutters, down pipes, plumbing, painting, plastering, tiling, and cleaning. Make careful to report any standing water on the canals. Make sure a maintenance schedule is in place to ensure continuous service. Record the equipment that has been fixed.
