As a participant in the Chemical Operations Learnership program, you will be responsible for maintaining good housekeeping and safety standards in your work area.

This includes adhering to all safety requirements, reporting hazards to the Production supervisor, and participating in activities related to the World Class Manufacturing Programme (WCM).

You will also be involved in weighing out raw materials accurately according to works order requirements, manufacturing products according to instructions, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards at all times.

Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining production records, labeling product containers, and transporting finished products between the plant and the warehouse.

Other duties include cleaning plant and equipment, repacking products when necessary, and performing production-related activities as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure good housekeeping and safety standards are maintained in the work area.
  • Participate in activities related to the World Class Manufacturing Programme (WCM).
  • Report all hazards to the Production supervisor and log them as per hazard spotting programme.
  • Ensure safety critical plant, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order and maintain records.

  • Ensure quality critical plant and equipment are in good working order and maintain records.
  • Attend and participate in all plant production and safety meetings.
  • Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is in good order before use.
  • Weigh out raw materials accurately according to works order requirements.
  • Manufacture products according to manufacturing instructions and adhere to safety and quality standards.
  • Update production records for each works order.

  • Label product containers and pack out product once quality control (QC) passed.
  • Clean plant and equipment thoroughly to prevent contamination of the next product batch.
  • Re-pack product when necessary according to works order.
  • Transport finished product between the plant and the warehouse.
  • Follow all lawful instructions from the supervisor.
  • Perform production-related activities in plants outside the normal work area, ensuring all training and safety standards are met.

    • Attention to detail: Ability to pay close attention to tasks and ensure accuracy in weighing, manufacturing, and record-keeping.
    • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to report hazards, communicate with supervisors, and participate in meetings.

    • Technical skills: Basic understanding of computer systems and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Safety consciousness: Strong awareness of safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and follow lawful instructions from supervisors.

    • Adaptability: Flexibility to perform various tasks and responsibilities within the production environment as required.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Matric or N3 with maths and science is essential.
    • Computer skills – Microsoft Word and Excel.
