Job Overview
VKB Retail in Newcastle is currently seeking a reliable and motivated Code 10 Driver to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods, ensuring that all deliveries are completed efficiently and according to company standards.
This role is ideal for an individual who is detail-oriented, physically fit, and committed to maintaining high levels of accuracy and professionalism. The candidate must be able to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to transport and deliver goods safely while minimising risks to the company. The driver will also play a key role in stock control, customer service, and ensuring compliance with company policies and road safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Transport and Delivery of Goods
The Code 10 Driver will be responsible for transporting goods to various destinations in a safe and timely manner. Deliveries must be completed according to schedule, ensuring that all items reach their destination in good condition.
Risk Management
The driver must take all necessary precautions to minimise risk to the company. This includes adhering to traffic laws, following safety procedures, and ensuring that goods are handled properly during transit.
Incident and Accident Reporting
Any incidents or accidents must be reported to management immediately. Accurate and timely reporting is essential to ensure that appropriate action is taken and that company records are maintained.
Stock Control and Accuracy
The driver will oversee the loading and offloading of stock, ensuring that all goods are accounted for and handled correctly. Maintaining 100% accuracy during these processes is critical to avoid discrepancies and losses.
Client Service
Providing excellent customer service is an important aspect of the role. The driver must interact professionally with clients, ensuring that deliveries are conducted in a courteous and efficient manner.
Administrative Duties
The position includes completing job-related administrative tasks, such as maintaining delivery records, completing documentation, and ensuring that all paperwork is accurate and up to date.
Overtime and Flexibility
The successful candidate must be willing to work overtime when required. Flexibility is essential to meet operational demands and ensure that all deliveries are completed on time.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification
- Valid Code 10 driver’s licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar driving role
- Experience within the agriculture industry will be advantageous
- Good physical health and fitness
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
