- Matric/ Grade 12/ NQF level 4 or 5 certificate or equivalent
- A National Diploma/ Degree in relevant field
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker (Applicants are expected to submit a certified copy of their current Annual Practice Certificate and proof of registration).
- Understanding of the laws governing the practice of health social work, other public service laws, and the social work profession and the Gauteng Department of Health.
- All social work techniques must be understood. Experience in social services for community mental health will be advantageous.
- A current South African driver’s license is required for the applicant.
- Additional prerequisites: understanding of PFMA, the Public Service Act, and associated laws and regulations, as well as social work-related laws and legal and ethical norms. In order to enhance social and mental wellbeing, one must have knowledge of social work, an awareness of social systems, and the abilities to intervene effectively and efficiently at the points where individuals interact with their environments. a strong ability to manage people, information technology, finances, and other resources;
Duties :
- Provide health social work services with reference to the support, care, rehabilitation, and reintegration of weak people, groups, families, and communities. Put primary and secondary social work techniques into practice.
- As part of a diverse team of health and therapy specialists, offer specialized and integrated social work services. Engage other parties, such as other government agencies, NGOs, and patient advocacy organizations.
- Reports in writing, regular reports, and statistics are required. Be prepared to be under the line manager’s or the social work supervisor’s supervision.
- Working under pressure is a skill. Establish inter-sectoral and multidisciplinary forums and take part in them to support the smooth delivery of excellent social work services.
- Together with other government agencies and organizations from the civil society, plan awareness-raising activities. Utilize training and development to stay up to speed on social work advancements.
- Utilize management information systems and other forms of information technology to handle social work data in order to improve reporting and service delivery.
