At our magnificent Game Lodge, which is situated just outside of Bela-Bela, we are looking for a competent and gregarious Lodge Receptionist to join our team. The duties of the Lodge Receptionist will include handling reservations for visitors, guaranteeing a seamless check-in and check-out procedure, and offering outstanding customer service to each and every one of them. In addition to having a strong sense of organization and communication, the ideal applicant would be passionate about the hospitality sector.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Matric/ Grade 12/ NQF level 4 or 5 certificate or equivalent
  • Any related tertiary or additional certification in hospitality or tourism is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a hotel or lodge receptionist or in a customer service role within the hospitality industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Must be proficient in using computer systems and have experience using hotel reservation software (PMS), such as Protel etc.
  • Must be fluent in English; additional languages are desirable.

Skills and personal attributes :

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Knowledge of local attractions, wildlife, or experience in a game lodge setting is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required in the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities (to mention a few) :

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the game lodge, ensuring a warm and friendly atmosphere.
  • Handle guest inquiries, provide accurate information about the lodge amenities and assist with any special requests.
  • Answering the telephone in a professional manner and transferring calls to different departments.
  • Manage and prioritize guest reservations using the lodge’s booking system (Protel), ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as housekeeping and maintenance, to ensure guest rooms are prepared and well-maintained.
  • Process guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently, maintaining an organized and smooth front desk operation.
  • Address guest complaints or concerns promptly and appropriately, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Manage guest payments, process credit card transactions, and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Provide tourism information to guests, including recommendations on local attractions, activities, and dining options.
  • Assist with coordinating transportation and arranging safari tours or other activities for guests as requested.
  • Maintain a neat and tidy reception area to present a professional image to guests.
