Minimum Requirements :
- Grade 12
- Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
- having a South African Pharmacy Council registration (SAPC)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- assist in the sale of drugs on the Schedule 1, Schedule 2, or Schedule 3
- Assist in the production, manipulation, or compounding of a non-sterile drug or other scheduled substance in accordance with a recipe and standard operating procedures that the responsible pharmacist has approved.

- Assist with the ordering of medications and substances listed in Schedules up to and including Schedule 6 in accordance with a request from a person permitted under the Medicines Act to buy or get such a medication or substance.
- Help in reading and preparing a prescription; choosing, modifying, or compounding the medication; labeling and supplying the medication in an appropriate container once a pharmacist has interpreted and evaluated the prescription.
- Interpret scripts correctly, behave ethically and legally in accordance with SAPC guidelines, and accurately record script information. Verify patient information on the system.
- Make sure that the medication is picked, packed, labeled, and checked accurately. You should also be aware of standard dosages and significant drug interactions.
- Give them clear instructions on how to use the medication you’ve provided.
- Keep up with changes to medical aid policies, including those pertaining to claims and prescriptions.
- Make sure a pharmacist reviews and signs off on all prescriptions to ensure their accuracy.
