MINISTRY OF LANDS AND AGRICULTURE
KGATLENG LAND BOARD


Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and competent Botswana citizens to fill the following position at Kgatleng Land Board, Mochudi. The Land Board is committed to delivering quality land management services and is seeking dedicated individuals who are reliable, disciplined, and capable of contributing to the effective operation of its transport services.


POSITION: DRIVER II (3 POSITIONS AVAILABLE)


SALARY SCALE
B4: BWP 57,348.00 – BWP 65,424.00 per annum
LEAVE ENTITLEMENT
Successful candidates will be entitled to 20 working days of leave per annum in accordance with public service regulations.


BENEFITS
The position offers access to the following benefits, subject to applicable terms and conditions:


Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme, where the employer contributes 80% and the employee contributes 20%.
Optional Pension Fund Scheme, with the employer contributing 15% and the employee contributing 5%.
Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P798.80 per month.


QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:
Junior Certificate (JC) or equivalent.
A valid Driver’s License Class B and C.
A valid Professional Driver’s Permit (PRDP) for Goods and Special categories.


EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant working experience as a Driver III is required. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of safe driving, responsibility, and adherence to road regulations.


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The primary purpose of this role is to provide reliable transportation services and to carry out routine maintenance checks on Land Board vehicles. The Driver II is expected to ensure that vehicles are operated safely and efficiently while supporting the organization’s daily operational requirements

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidates will be expected to perform, among others, the following duties:
Undertake duties similar to those of a Driver III, ensuring continuity and consistency in transport services.


Drive heavy-duty vehicles exceeding 3500kg maximum weight (non-articulated vehicles) up to 16000kg maximum weight, including towing trailers where required.


Operate all non-articulated buses above 3500kg safely and in compliance with traffic laws and organizational policies.
Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance checks on assigned vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.


Supervise one or more labourers assigned to assist with transport-related duties.
Act as driver in-charge when assigned responsibility over more than one vehicle (but fewer than five vehicles) during specific assignments.


Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel usage, and vehicle condition.
Ensure cleanliness and proper care of assigned vehicles at all times.


Adhere strictly to safety standards, traffic regulations, and organizational procedures.
Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.
