Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide general support within the catering department. The General Worker will assist with food preparation, cleaning, serving, and maintaining hygiene standards.
This role ensures that all catering operations run smoothly and efficiently while upholding quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of catering staff
Support the setup and serving of meals and refreshments
Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and catering areas at all times
Wash dishes, utensils, and catering equipment thoroughly and efficiently
Ensure proper storage of food items in line with safety and hygiene standards
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies
Dispose of waste materials in a safe and hygienic manner
Clean floors, surfaces, and workstations regularly
Support catering staff during busy periods and events
Follow all health and safety regulations within the workplace
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and procedures
Assist with stock control and report any shortages or damages
Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
Ability to read and understand basic instructions
Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment
Availability to work shifts, weekends, or public holidays if required
