We are currently seeking a dedicated General Assistant to join our team at Fedics, part of the Tsebo Solutions Group. This position plays a key role in supporting our Cooks and Chefs by assisting with food production, operating the cash register, serving food, and maintaining cleanliness in the canteen and kitchen areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Hygiene and Cleanliness:
  • Ensure compliance with Company and Statutory regulations regarding cleanliness and hygiene in all tasks performed.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the canteen, kitchen, and other designated areas, keeping them orderly and tidy.
  • Food Preparation and Serving:
  • Assist in the preparation of meals, focusing on salads, desserts, and other side dishes.
  • Serve food on the serving line, ensuring it is well-stocked, presentable, and clean.
  • Store and accurately record any food leftovers.
  • Customer Service:
  • Deliver high levels of customer service, ensuring customer expectations are met within the contract provisions.
  • Address customer and client complaints or compliments promptly and take appropriate action.
  • Inventory and Stock Management:
  • Ensure that stock in your designated area of responsibility is accurately counted and signed over to the correct staff on the next shift, where applicable.
  • Training and Team Support:
  • Assist in training new employees as required.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations and support management requests.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as necessary to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Adhere to health and safety standards and food quality standards at all times.
  • Report any safety hazards or operational issues to management immediately.
  • Miscellaneous Duties:
  • Perform any related tasks as assigned by management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Work Ethic:
  • Must enjoy practical and methodical work.
  • Demonstrate honesty and reliability in all tasks.
  • Have good personal hygiene practices and be free from skin allergies to foods and detergents.
  • Skills:
  • Possess good hand-eye coordination and the ability to work quickly and safely.
  • Exhibit good communication skills, capable of working as part of a team.
  • Show stamina to work between 45-50 hours per week, including bending, standing, and lifting.

Qualifications:

  • Age Requirement:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Educational Requirement:
  • Must have completed at least a National Senior Certificate.
