ICT SERVICE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A National Diploma (NQF 6) in Information Technology as recognized by SAQA
  • At least one (1) years’ experience in Information Technology environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Novell environments, LAN (Local Area Network), ICT Devices and Peripheral Installation, Maintenance, and Support, ICT LAN Connection Troubleshooting and Support, and ICT Client/Customer/Visitor Support and Training.
  • having familiarity with computer hardware, software, and accessories such servers, displays, cables, the physical layer, printers, and modems.
  • Understanding of the steps and techniques for setting up, updating, diagnosing, and repairing pertinent software, hardware, and peripherals such printers and associated gear.
  • Understanding the OSI model and keeping an eye on the LAN and WAN.
  • Good phone manners, technical, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and computer abilities (MS Office suite) are also essential.

Duties :

  • Support and troubleshooting for desktops.
  • In accordance with the ICT Service Standards, respond to calls (incidents, issues, or service requests) recorded with the ICT helpdesk.
  • handling of logged calls. Update the system with allocated calls and escalate as appropriate.
  • Close all closed tickets in the support desk software. Support ICT initiatives.
  • Upgrade all LAN-connected devices with new software versions and software rollouts. coordinating with IT service providers.
  • When an issue cannot be fixed, contact service technicians to service the equipment. Risk management and auditing for ICT.
  • On each computer, make sure antivirus is on and updated daily.
